Stress and our health

Too little sleep makes you look and feel tired. One of the first places lack of sleep shows up is on the face, with dark circles and bags under the eyes, and sagging skin.
A lot of people don't have enough sleep due to giving in to the ways of the world, and staying up late to watch their favourite TV programmes or movie's, or its maybe that you are feeling stressed due to family situations or work.
But the only way to help gain a more youthful appearance naturally is to reduce your stress levels and this in turn will help give you a younger appearance.
But how is this achievable? You say “it’s simpler said than done!”
These are some ways people deal with stress, as a coping mechanism but are very unhealthy, and cause more damage in the long term:
Drinking too much alcohol
Overeating or under eating
Zoning out for hours in front of the TV or computer
Withdrawing from friends, family, and activities
Using pills or drugs to relax
Sleeping too much
Filling up every minute of the day to avoid facing problems
Taking out your stress on others (lashing out, angry outbursts, physical violence)
Below are some healthy ways to relax.
Go for a walk.
Spend time in nature.
Call a good friend.
Sweat out tension with a good workout.
Write in a diary/journal.
Take a long bath.
Light scented candles.
Relax with a warm cup of herbal tea.
Play with a pet.
Work in your garden.
Get a massage.
Curl up with a good book.
Listen to music.
Watch a comedy.
For me I find that the best way to reduce my stress is to fully put my trust in the all mighty Yah and pray. I read his words of wisdom and guidance in the bible to help gain that inner peace and strength.
And I know if you take up this strategy you will gain lots of health benefits and you will be a step closer to that younger looking less stressed you.
HOW STRESS EFFECTS THE BODY
Brain and Nerves
Headaches, feelings of despair, lack of energy, sadness, anger, irritability, increased or decreased eating patterns, trouble concentrating, memory problems, trouble sleeping, mental health problems such as panic attacks, anxiety disorders and depression.
Acne and other skin problems such as itchy rashes. And if you already have underlying skin problems such as psoriasis, eczema, or cold sores, stress will make these flare up or become worse.
Muscles and Joints
Muscle aches and tension especially in the neck and shoulders.
Faster heart beat, rise in blood pressure, increased risk of high cholesterol and heart disease.
Nausea, stomachache, weight gain, and heart burn.
Increased chances of diabetes.
Diarrhea, constipation and other digestive problems.
For women: regular or more painful periods, and reduced sexual desire.
For men: impotence, lower sperm production and reduced sexual desire.
Lowers Immune System
Lowers ability to fight or recover from illness or disease
I know that when ever I dance it's an instant escapism from stress ! Recently I've been reminded about how being out doors and around nature can help to clear my mind and give me a chance to read evaluate without feeling overwhelmed.
